While Puratos always aims to be a reliable partner in innovation, we also believe in preserving traditional ways of making bread, cakes and chocolate. Bringing these ideals together allows us to serve you, our customers, in the best way possible, by adding value to tradition.

The Sourdough Library

Located in our Centre for Bread Flavour in Saint-Vith, Belgium, the Sourdough Library gathers a unique collection of sourdoughs from all over the world, each with its own distinct characteristics. The library is a non-profit initiative that offers people the chance to have their sourdoughs preserved and maintained.

Criollo Cocoa plantation: Tikul

As part of our dedication to preserving the heritage of cocoa and chocolate, Puratos purchased 140 hectares of cultivable land in Tikul, in the state of Yucatan, Mexico.

A designated cocoa plantation has been established there to safeguard cocoa diversity by growing Criollo trees, one of the oldest, rarest and finest cocoa varieties on the planet.
